Leaving Great Snoring – after passing the church, we turn left onto the Barsham Road.
Arriving 2 minutes later at the Greenway, where we part company with those bound for Walsingham via Slipper Chapel .
The Greenway leads us downhill through rich farmland ……..
………..before reaching a patch of woodland and the busy Fakenham Road in a little over a mile. Here, a right turn in front of the impressive Walsingham Abbey Park gates, reveals a permissive path leading inside a field hedge towards the bridge.
Crossing the River Stiffkey, we follow the Fakenham Road as far as Blind Dick’s Lane, where a left and right hand turn leads us into the, traffic free, Back Lane, passing behind Greyfriars – the ruined Franciscan Friary.
We emerge into a place of refreshment – beside the (R.C.) Church of the Annunciation and the Black Lion Hotel – Walsingham’s Friday Market, a short walk from the Anglican Shrine , Abbey Grounds and the parish church of St. Mary.
