It is about 13 miles between Taverham and the next public transport hub at Swanton Morley. Once clear of Ringland, leaving the city behind, pilgrims continue on green lanes on the quieter side Wensum Valley.
From Taverham to Ringland – To avoid roads where heavy traffic is an issue, pilgrims are encouraged to continue on the Marriott’s Way through in a wide loop , leaving the old railway line to swinging south through woods, farm and field, to cross the river , before entering the village of Ringland.
Pilgrims wanting to visit St. Edmund’s Church, Taverham who are prepared to brave the traffic on Ringland Road may decide to take the shorter route. From Drayton follow the Taverham Road to the church. From the church to Ringland Bridge and the Swan Inn follow the street and then Ringland Road.
